Steve Williams

steve-williamsSteve Williams is a strategy consultant with Orion Development Group.  Mr. Williams’ experience in the application of business intelligence, analytics, and performance management fields spans all major functional areas of business, including sales, marketing, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, financial planning and analysis, and performance management.

Mr. Williams’  clients have included Pinnacle Foods Group, United Natural Foods, McCormick & Company, Navy Federal Credit Union, Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance, Watsco, Principal Financial Group, Partners Federal Credit Union, Louisville Gas & Electric/Kentucky Utilities, Toronto Hydro Electric System, the U.S. Treasury and the U.S. Social Security Administration.

In addition to his extensive business intelligence strategy work, Mr. Williams has been an early and frequent thought leader on the synergy between business intelligence (BI), analytics and performance management and on the use of BI within structured business decision-making processes.  Mr. Williams has written for many business journals and magazines, including Strategic Finance, Business Trends Quarterly, Business Intelligence Journal, and Information Management (previously, DM Review).

Mr. Williams is the co-author of The Profit Impact of Business Intelligence (Elsevier/Morgan Kaufman Publishing, 2006).  Mr. Williams is also co-developer of the BI Pathway Method – a full lifecycle approach to ensuring that enterprise data warehousing and business intelligence initiatives are effectively executed and achieve a measurable business impact.

During his career in industry, Mr. Williams has held positions in general management, program management, operations, business development, marketing, financial management, systems engineering, and cost analysis. In total, he brings over 30 years of consulting and industry experience to the classroom.

Mr. Williams has an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia, and a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Maryland.
